5 Major Steps in the Home Buying Process

Considering purchasing a home? Here are the 5 major steps that you should know about the home buying process! 

There are five major steps that you can anticipate in purchasing a home.

1. You should get pre-approved or pre-qualified before shopping for your home

This is to ensure that we find the house that is in your price range, and when we find it, you can afford it.

2. Assemble your home buying team

You want to have the best representation you can possibly get with an educated and proactive real estate team or group.... which of course we have here at the Whittemore Group! :)

3. Find the home, then submit the offer

You're going to want a real estate professional who will negotiate for you, and negotiate hard to make sure that you get the best home for the best price and the best terms. Then we will get the paperwork together, what we call transaction to close. Here at the Whittemore Group, we have our own person, our Transaction Coordinator, that takes care of all of that paperwork to make sure that you don't have to worry about so much. However, we will educate you and let you know everything that's happening, when it's happening, and trust me, there's quite a bit of paperwork.

4. Closing

Once we're under contract, there is a time period of about 30 to 45 days of preparation in which we, again, take a look at the house to make sure it's in the same condition that we saw it originally, and all of the items that we asked to be fixed, if applicable, are fixed. If everything's good to go, we go to the title company and fill out a ton of paperwork. It seems like people are getting carpal tunnel from this.... but you get to excitedly fill out and sign all of this paperwork, and we will explain anything extra that you need to go over. 

5. We give you the keys!

We take a nice selfie, and you’re a homeowner!
