Fort Walton Beach, FL - Top Neighborhoods
Thinking about moving to Fort Walton Beach, Florida? Well, I'm Stephanie Durham with the Whittemore group at exp Realty and I'm going to take you on a tour through some of these neighborhoods located here in Fort Walton Beach, Florida, I'm going to show you through Poquito Bayou in Shalimar, Lake Lorraine, Kenwood, Ferry Park and on Okaloosa Island. So, let's go take a look and see which one that you like the best.
POQUITO BAYOU
Poquito Bayou is located in between the main part of Shalimar and Eglin Air Force Base. Making it a military-oriented neighborhood and very family-friendly. The kiddos can enjoy their time playing in Leo Norred Park and there's also a boat ramp for you to be able to enjoy a day out on the water. The elementary school is nearby and the middle and high schools are also just a short drive away.
LAKE LORRAINE
Lake Lorraine is also a very family-friendly, well-established neighborhood in Shalimar. You'll see many waterfront homes as well as homes along the golf course. What I personally love about Shalimar, is how friendly the residents are. I don't even live there. But, every time I drive through, there's always residents giving me a quick wave as I drive by. It's a very welcoming area. I love it.
KENWOOD
Kenwood is a desirable neighborhood that also includes homes with gorgeous views on the bayou and on the golf course. Most days, you'll see families out for a walk and kids riding their bikes along the sidewalk. I like to take my kids trick-or-treating in Kenwood on Halloween because it's like one big block party with tons of candy and entertainment.
FERRY PARK
Ferry Park is a well-established neighborhood in Fort Walton Beach, located close to many stores and restaurants. It has a large part that offers great amenities for all types of interests. As a matter of fact, I think I'll head there now. Alright, I'm here at Ferry Park walking on the fitness trail. This park also has a playground, tennis court, basketball court, multi-purpose field. You could play Frisbee golf out here. And like I said, you can see this trail behind me. It's really long to walk for hours out here, especially on a beautiful day like today. You see behind me, that's the multi-purpose field. Lots of grassy areas if you just want to take your kids out and play some kickball or have a little picnic. There's pavilions out here as well. If you want to spend a day out, I'd say Ferry Park is the place to be.
OKALOOSA ISLAND
Alright, I'm here on Okaloosa Island. So, let's go take a look at all these condos that you have to choose from or there are some single-family homes as well. Let's go take a look. Not only is Okaloosa Island a great place for vacationers, but owning a home or a condo on the island comes with many great perks. You'll either be right on the beach or overlooking the sound. Great restaurants and bars are within walking distance. And you can also skip over to the Gulfarium, Boardwalk, or Wild Willy's Adventure Park. You'll barely need to leave the island to have tons of fun near home.
